On Thursday, November 13th, the School Counseling Department held an assembly to kickoff the Post-Secondary Planning Process for the Class of 2016. Since many students are at different stages in the process, we covered topics in a way the could help empower any student through the process. Empowerment means having the tools and confidence to reach your goals, knowing how to overcome challenges when you face them, knowing where to get help along the way.
The halfway point of Freshman year is almost upon us, and shortly after the school vacation you will be beginning to prepare for your mid-year exams. To support you in your preparation, School Counselors and Student Ambassadors will be joining your history classes during the first week of January to share some helpful tips on preparing for your exams. We’ll also be discussing “learning style,” a concept that can help you identify effective ways that you can learn as individuals. This connects back to the Learning Style Inventory many of you completed in Naviance over the summer. It will be worthwhile to review your learning style results ahead of our visit in January. If you have not completed the Learning Style Inventory yet, please take a few minutes between now and then to check it out. You may find it very insightful in helping you understand how you most effectively learn.
Enjoy your vacation and see you soon!
