At Junior Night, we also distributed personal copies of the Post-Secondary Planning Handbook for each student. Students who have not received their Handbook should stop by the School Counseling Office to pick up their own copy. We have also posted the Handbook online and you can access it here.
Whether you attended Junior Night or not, we want to hear from you:
- For those that were present, we would appreciate if you completed this brief feedback survey on the presentation.
- For every student and parent of the Class of 2017, please use this form to ask us any general questions you have about Senior Night or the college application process. (Contact your School Counselor directly for specific questions about your/your child's individual circumstances.) We will be preparing and sharing a Frequently Asked Questions document with answers to all the questions. The link above is only open until November 30th, but always feel free to contact your school counselor whenever you have questions.
Please visit our Junior Night On-Demand Website as well. This resource was developed last year by the School Counselors to provide you with information when you need it. There are informational videos on post-secondary planning topics such as researching colleges and visiting campuses. Accompanying the videos are brief summaries of each topic along with additional links to resources, articles and tools for you to use in the planning process. Additional resources can also be found on the main School Counseling Department Website.
We additionally hope that you will follow our WHS Counseling Twitter account. Excellent articles, resources and valuable information are shared regularly. Follow us at @WboroCounselors.
Next for juniors are small group workshops with their counselors to further explore colleges and other post-secondary options. These workshops will be held at the beginning of Semester 2. In January, we will also be sending a letter home with information on the upcoming individual student meetings, which will be scheduled with students throughout the second semester.
Lastly, we want to remind parents that the next Parent-to-Parent Coffee Chat will be on Tuesday, December 1 from 7-8 pm in the College and Career Center. This informal event is an opportunity for parents to learn from and support one another. This month's theme is Initial Planning for the College Application Process. Attendees can also learn about the college and career resources in Naviance.
Let us know how we can best support you through your planning for life after high school. We are happy to help!
